This is the first of many photographs researched from the Louisiana Weekly newspaper which began publication in 1925. The group pictured shows all but two members of the popular Entre Nous Bridge Club whose tea was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Dejoie. Standing left to right: Mrs. Mildred Montegut, Miss Bernice Mazine, Miss. Marion Dejoie, Mmes. Ula Rieras and Vivian Dejoie. Seated, left to right: Mmes. Marie Paul, Lillian Bedou, Marguerite Perez, Bertha Taitt and Ruth Blanchett. Members not shown are Mmes. Florestine Colllins and Wilhelmina Simon. These popular misses and matrons chose as the name of their club a simple French expression “entre nous,” meaning simply “between us.”
