Josephine Rodriguez (seated top row center) won the Queen’s crown and mantle at the annual May festival of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority held May 6, 1939, at Gilbert Academy. The lovely queen was accompanied by her maids who are standing next to her (left to right) Rhoda Smith, Mildred Netter, Wilhelmina Segue, Daisybelle Aubry, Maxine Holtry and Marjorie Mitchell.
Her court included also Lorraine Touchard and Paulette Dejoie who are to the queen’s extreme right, top row.
In the middle row (left to right) are: Octavia Tenette, Adelia Doris Atkins, Jacqueline Perkins, Althea Belfield, Carmel Cospetelitsh, Louise Llopis and Rhea Butler.
In the front row (left to right) are: Helen Bryant, Anona Blanchet, Ros Stewart, Roberta Palfrey, Camille McCann, Eloise Sutton, Braden, Claire Sharp, Pearl Theresa Rousseve.
The little ones standing in the front center are Marie Blakely, Sybil Haydel, Yolande Ferrand, Jean Gardina, Ernest Cherrie.
