As promised in our initial post in which we shared pictures of Holy Ghost School’s The Dove yearbook we now share additional photos of students and some members of staff. For some of you who have wondered what your parents or grandparents were like back in the ’50s, well…here you are!

I believe that this is Holy Ghost-Opelousas, not New Orleans. The photos reflect a great school.
It is.
Where was Holy Ghost School located?
There was a Holy Ghost School in New Orleans, but this one was located in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Do you have the Holy Rosary yearbook? 1957-58?
No, Sonya, we are not aware of any Holy Rosary yearbook.
All four of my sisters and I graduated from Holy Ghost in Opelousas. We are all in the yearbook. I was in Third Grade, Sr. Raymond’s class.
My brother, cousin and I went to Holy Ghost in Opelousas from 1st to 12th grade. We loved our school.
The “Dove” from 1959, is the only yearbook that was ever published. I borrowed the book from a classmate, and made copies for personal use. As a first-grader back then, my class recently celebrated our 50th year high school graduation from Holy Ghost. We shared fond memories of our school days at the gathering. It saddens me that the school has been destroyed, but that is how we make way for growth, I suppose.
I am the little boy with the trombone in one of the photos.
My mother, Brenda Donatto is in these pics, clarinet section. Along with her Donatto family. Nice to see.
James, you were my best friend growing up – on the trumpet.
Hi It is great to see my family members in the book. Wanted to know if I can get permission to use pictures in my family history book.
Yes, you can.
How do I get a picture of the band? My cousins, Perkin Parish and Iris Lazard, were in the band.
