Merci beaucoup to everyone in our CreoleGen family of readers who have been following us, enjoying our posts and contributing to our success! We have wonderful followers who helped us achieve our goal of raising $5,000 with their donations in support of our research.
Since 2013 the Creole Genealogical and Historical Association, Inc. (lovingly nicknamed CreoleGen) has been working to illuminate the hidden history of Louisiana and gulf coast Creole families and communities and the events associated with them. It all started with a project of Lolita Villavasso Cherrie who was collecting pictures and stories from the Louisiana Weekly newspaper (which is not digitized) because she knew they were important as a cultural resource. Lenora Gobert and Jari Honora convinced Lolita we should put her collection on a website to share with the world. Jari added his extensive knowledge and own cultural collection while Lenora, while not being a cultural native, added to the site with stories as well. Janice Duplantier Smith tightened us up as a non-profit entity and keeps us organized. And, as they say…the rest is history.
We would also like to thank those readers who have so generously contributed stories of their own, bringing wonderfully thoughtful and historical cultural additions to the work of our primary researchers. We appreciate your additions to the site.
Thanks to everyone for your continuing support.
Lolita, Jari, Lenora, Janice

Can CeoleGen assist a New Orleans Product to’ Remember When”?
With that in mind, Ceole Gen can be an exceptional part of my project by publishing my quest in CeoleGen in New Orleans. This is a Louisiana project only.
I am attempting to save the memories of an important ‘Echoes of Our Past’. The LIALO and The LIALA.
These organizations represented everything for our Race of People This included and not limited to, Academic, Arts, Employment, Technology. Music, and Sports from 1929-1969.
You may concur, to be absorbed and /or assimilated with Representation is OK. However, “to be totally absorbed and/or assimilated without Representation is ‘Unacceptable”.
A reply shall be acceptable.
Thank you,

I am a LaCour descendant. I know the main points of my history. I would just like to know more about my family history and where I come from. Is this what you help with?
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL CREOLE GEN MEMBERS.

Late to the party, but I echo the congratulations of all those above. It is always a delight to open the wonderful, thought-provoking articles by CreoleGen. Btw, my email is one way I honor my mother Minerva Tizeno, Creole from SWLA
